HERITAGE SOUNDSCAPE
September 7 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Date: Sat 7th September & Sat 14th September.
Time: 12.00pm – 2.00pm
Enjoy an immersive soundscape of stories, songs and poetry by local writers and performers that celebrates the glorious heritage of our coastal community.
Produced by Hammond House Productions for North East Lincolnshire Council, the 25-minute programme, played on the square’s surround sound system, repeats over the 2 hour period.
Bring a picnic or grab refreshments from the nearby shopping centre to enjoy this immersive experience and wander through the square to see the magnificent Minster and display of public artwork.
Public artwork in the square includes ‘Murmuration’ a flock of copper silhouettes inspired by local people by Annabel McCourt Artist, and Adrian Riley’s, ‘Come Follow Me’, an intriguing path of engraved flagstones crossing the square to the doors of the Minster that chart the history of this coastal town and are referenced in the soundscape.
The redevelopment of St James’ Square is the first of a series of projects in a £100m regeneration programme of Grimsby town centre due to be completed in 2026.
