HODs – “Archway of Tears” – The Trials and Tribulations of Sir Gilbert Scotts Workhouse

Part of the Lincolnshire HODs Festival 2022

Discover this 1936 workhouse, built following the 1934 poor law amendment to help the poor. The workhouse was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott a prolific architect of the nineteeth century, that could accommodate 350 paupers at a cost of £5,600. See this fantastic building with hidden gems, and enjoy a tour of the old gate house with original features. A collection of old photos and stories of people that have attended will also be on show.
