HODs – Marvellous Machinery – A Windmill in Action

10 September 2022 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Part of the Lincolnshire HODs Festival 2022

Weather permitting, watch millers at work in the fully restored, 142-year-old, six-sailed Waltham Windmill. There are fantastic views from the top of this iconic building. Local wheat is ground for flour, which is baked into wholemeal loaves, both on sale. Learn about windmills in Waltham since 1666 and watch footage of the restoration in 2020-21. Free to enter, full of interesting items, the Rural Life Museum / RAF Grimsby exhibition is in a Nissen hut, formerly the dining hall for RAF Grimsby WAAFs during WWII. Reconstructed rooms show how life used to be before microwaves and mobile phones! GCMES train rides available for a small charge.
