SUMMARY:Discover the Secret Cold War History of the ROC Underground Bunker at Holbeach!
DESCRIPTION:Taking part in the Heritage Open Days Festival 2026\nDiscover the military observation post in Holbeach\, just a stone’s throw away from the road. Retired members of the Royal Observer Corps will share the history of the service and their memories of times spent in the bunker\, monitoring for impending nuclear attacks. Most of the tour will take place overground\, however access to the bunker is via a 14 ft ladder and is unsuitable for those with mobility issues or claustrophobia. The team will ask you to complete a medical declaration before entering the bunker to certify that you are fit to take part. Sensible shoes are required to access the bunker. Outdoor clothing Required. Dogs are welcome\, however must be kept on a lead and must be supervised at all times. This may mean that pairs are split up so that one person can watch the dog above ground whilst the other goes down into the bunker. Visitors going down into the bunker must be a minimum age of 10 years old and anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. \nPlease note: Only turn up if you have a booked place on one of the tours below. Thank you. \nAddress: Holbeach ROC Post\, Washway Road\, Holbeach\, Lincolnshire\, PE12 7PP \nDate: Friday 18th September &  Saturday 19th September 2026 \nTime: Tours at 10.30am\, 12.30pm & 2.30pm \nBooking required?: Yes.
