SUMMARY:HOD - Browne's Hospital - Saving the Ancient Glass
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Lincolnshire HODs Festival 2023\nThe late medieval glass was made by a local workshop of glaziers led by John the Glazier of Stamford. The glass was deteriorating and a project undertaken by Barley Studios from February to July has seen the installation of external glazing to protect the glass of 1475 from the effects of the weather. DESCRIPTION:Part of the Lincolnshire HODs Festival 2023\nAn Exhibition of the History of Stickney has been organised to be held in the Village Hall on the 9th & 10th September 2023. On display will be the censuses for Stickney & many of the surrounding villages and over 800 photographs. Baptisms\, Burials & Marriages\, records of Stickney and other local Churches and many newspaper cuttings from the village past. There are many booklets about the history of Beer houses\, Shops\, and the numerous trades that once thrived in the parish\, and a display of over 100 letter heads\, trade bills & much more. It is open from 10am until 6pm on both days with free admission. Light homemade refreshments will be available. DESCRIPTION:Part of the Lincolnshire HODs Festival 2023\nWeather permitting\, watch millers at work in the fully restored\, 143-year-old\, six-sailed Waltham Windmill. There are fantastic views from the top of this iconic building. Local wheat is ground for flour\, which is baked into wholemeal loaves\, both on sale. Learn about windmills in Waltham since 1666. Free to enter\, full of interesting items\, the Rural Life Museum / RAF Grimsby exhibition is in a Nissen hut\, formerly the dining hall for RAF Grimsby WAAFs during WWII. Reconstructed rooms show how life used to be before microwaves and mobile phones! GCMES train rides available for a small charge. \nThe site is mostly flat and accessible to all. Limited disabled parking available. Wheelchairs / pushchairs can access the ground floor of the mill. There are steep stairs\, with hand rails\, to the upper floors of the mill.
